There’s nothing like holding your own book in your hands.

Before writing this post, I looked up my previous entry and noticed it was one month shy from a year ago.  It seems like such a long time that Crystal and I started collaborating on Blankie’s Diary, and I’m overjoyed to announce that it’s finally out! While I’d hoped to have it ready to go for the 2015 holiday season, self-publishing proved more challenging than I anticipated. For example, once you have beautiful full color art that happens to be too large for scanners, even the ones at Staples, what do you do? What the heck is a full-color bleed? How many months will I pay a huge subscription fee to Adobe Creative Suite and still remain completely inept at using any of their products? Answers – barter with a local photographer to shoot high-quality photos of the prints, no margins so that you can incorporate two-page spread artwork, and 7 months. Thankfully, making mistakes does not get me down, which is good, because I make them often. Anyhow, this is a long winded way to tell you all, that ‘Blankie’s Diary’ is finally out! I have not yet started a marketing plan, and it’s only available on Amazon and Create Space right now, but I hope to get it on the shelves of as many physical bookstores as possible as well. Crystal and I also plan on holding some signing events in the near future, and doing some press.  I will update the blog with information as it becomes available. Thank you all so much for your support!

PS. I was accepted to and have started the Stonecoast MFA in Creative Writing at the University of Southern Maine.
